5 Weeks

Jack is 5 weeks! Time is flying faster and faster!! I’m enjoying every moment of getting to spend all my days with him. Oh my goodness I love him!

He has been more alert recently which has been fun to have him awake for a few hours at a time. He loves music and lights. We went to small church and regular church service this Sunday and he was a champ! He is smiling more and more which is still gas but we love seeing his dimples!

Starting to wear more 0-3 month clothing but still big on him! Mostly still in newborn and wearing newborn diapers.

We got out a little more and we are ready for this warm week to adventure out some more!

Mama said there would be days like this…

Yesterday was interesting to say the least! I’m a “have all my ducks in a row” kinda girl. Motherhood to me is all about being organized and sticking to a good schedule for feedings and sleeping at night and everything goes pretty smoothly. (Roll your eyes mamas…I know it’s not always perfect sticking to a schedule even – not at all claiming to be the “perfect mom”)

Other than that Jack has been such an easy going baby and is a great sleeper and eater…and pooper! So it was bound to happen when my days would get crazy and I wouldn’t have a second to even eat lunch.

Here’s a look at our day yesterday all in a nutshell just because I laughed through yesterday and I want to keep these early motherhood memories…enjoy…and laugh with me because I did and had zero frustration. I love this mama gig!

Woke …

1 Month

I can hardly believe that Jack is a month old! This has been the best yet fastest month of my life! I have loved every second of getting to know Jack and being his mama.

Jack has started to be awake more and track you as you move. He’s starting to smile more…still gas, but it’s cute! He loves to lay and just look around. Still loves to be swaddled and bounced. Absolutely loves music and car rides! He loves his paci, too!

He is still such a great eater and when I give him a bottle he can drink 5oz and sometimes still wants more. He continues to fill at least ten diapers a day! He’s been sleeping good though the night and only wakes up once – change his diaper and eats and back to sleep!

He continues to hate baths but calms down when I wash his …

3 Weeks

Jack Loren is 3 weeks old! We love him so much and can’t imagine our lives without him.  We went to the doctor this past Friday at a little over 2 1/2 weeks and Jack is healthy and growing! He now weighs 7lbs and 8oz and measuring 20 1/2inches. He eats like a champ! He literally eats, sleeps and poops just like the average baby! He continues to sleep well at night and has started to be more awake at times between feedings and is starting to track you more and move his head towards your voice.  Jack got his first bottle this past week so we could get out and about more. He did super well!  We got out and about more this week! We went and visited a friend who had a baby almost two weeks after Jack was born. They orgionally were due two days apart but …

Living Life Through A Square Picture

Our life here isn’t about living for our status or our square pictures that make life seem so perfect. What if we saw each other how God sees us daily. The messy. The ugly. Life isn’t always beautiful. I guarantee if we saw each other’s mess from time to time our guards would come down and we would laugh because they are just like us. They have bad days and their house is a mess except for the area that they cleaned to show off to the world through a square picture. They may have taken the picture forty times to achieve the perfect shot. Maybe they stood on the countertop or stood upside down to make it perfect. Maybe they updated their status on something that makes you jealous, yet they painted a picture of perfection amongst their pain. It’s so easy to scroll through social media and compare …

Meal Prepping

If you know anything about me I’m an organizer and try to always have all my ducks in a row. My schedule is different than the average person. I don’t work a 8-5 job. Twice a week I work until after 8:00pm and have a 40 minute commute back home and another night of the week I attend a bible study so I normally pack a snack and eat it on my way. My eating habits can be horrible, not to the fact of the junk food that your mind most-likely skipped to but more to the fact of the time of night I eat my dinner or I may have skipped meal because of my schedule at work hadn’t allowed me time to eat. Also, there are days when I throw random items into a lunch box and call it a meal, it’s more like a bunch of things …

Finally at Ndoto

We finally made it to kisumu yesterday after a long five hour bumpy ride! We finally have a spot to keep our bags in one spot, for once. I should say until we leave for the retreats on Monday and Tuesday and Thursday to Saturday.

On Thursday we took our night safari tour and it was a ton of fun! We got to see zebra, giraffe, rhinos- both white and black, female lions, wart hogs, water buffalo, gazelle, and antelope. We also got to see the amazing sunset from high on a mountain. Africa is absolutely beautiful! All three of us had expectations of it being flat and dusty. Just how you see on movies how you’d imagine a safari in the desert. But it’s nothing like that. Our little shack we stayed in Thursday was the coolest place we stayed so far…so if you’re looking for a honeymoon location, …

Two Weeks in Africa

By starting to tell you how completely blessed both Seth and I have been during this processing of preparing for Africa would be an understatement.

Seth and I made our final decision to go to Africa a few weeks ago and ever since I’ve felt God telling me I’ve made the right decision. He has over whelmed us in many ways. But I’m sure I have friends who are tired of me telling the story of how we all got connected to Ndoto. I love having my clients bring it up to me and ask me questions I sometimes have no answer for. But God always asks us to live uncomfortably for Him. I don’t believe any Christian can say they have a comfortable Faith. God asks you to befriend someone you may not want to, or put on your heart to do a good deed, God may also ask …

Isaiah 6:8

Can we all just stop for two seconds so I can tell you just how AMAZING our God is! He is AMAZING!!

After posting my blog on Friday night, within an instant I received comments and so many texts! Now I know what you are all up to on a Friday night around 10pm…Facebook!

That’s besides the point. I just want to take a moment to thank you all for your comments, texts, face-to-face conversations, and messages. There is nothing more than hearing exactly what we needed hear from you. Not only that, I know God was speaking through each and everyone of you! Can I just tell you how awesome it was hearing the words “Go” and not thinking I was crazy. The amount of people that we talked to in church today was a blessing, especially from one’s we think highly of! Let alone all your words, but …
